That is the kind of girl I am. The one that sounds overly formal, the one who would actually use mot juste in a sentence…and not just to sound pretentious. What do you expect from a kid who grew up with no TV, no friends within a 10 mile radius, and read everything she could get her hands on? I seriously read practically every book (that I was allowed to) in our libraries (albeit small ones, with even smaller sections I was allowed to get books from).
Maybe this is why the contraband I hid under my matteress and shoved down jacket sleeves was books rather than anything truly risque. Yeah, I was a real rebel. What with my Christian fiction and occassional top 40 recorded on a tape (yes, I’m that old!).
