That bed was glorious, spectacular, squishy, glittery (yes, glittery) and all mine.  It was amazing.  It was a regular twin size bed, but the headboard made it my own special showpiece.  It was upholstered in creme vinyl with gold buttons to give it a tufted look and was sprinkled liberally with gold glitter.  The top was scrolled along the lines of every true princess bed known to man kind.

Then one day my mother (probably after tripping over something in my room yet again) decided it was time for my brother and I to have bunk beds.  I was maybe 5 at the time, but I remember the horror and delight.  Lose my magnificent bed or scale unknonw heights?  (Because I knew I would get the top.  I was the oldest after all!)

So sadly, I watched my bed depart for the trip to one of my Grandma’s guestrooms.  I would occasionally go sprawl across it there, running my fingers over the glittery bumps, my mind wandering busily with all things important to a child.

Then one day…okay, it was years later.  I was home visiting from college and when I walked into The Front Bedroom (Does everyone name rooms in their house such?) to grab a book from the shelf, MY BED WAS GONE!  In it’s place was a sprawling monstrosity.  I bit my lower lip to remind myself that I was an ADULT for pete’s sake and it was JUST a BED!

But secretly…I still think about that bed.  I’m sure my memory is not extremely accurate, but you know I’d buy it’s twin if it appeared in the diverse pages of CL.
